Sun Loungers

Most sun loungers are bought once and replaced three summers later, usually because the frame has given up rather than the fabric. This one is built from solid grade-A teak, so it can stay outside through a British winter without rotting, warping or needing to be carried into the garage every October.

The back reclines through several positions and the leg lift takes the weight off your calves properly, which is the difference between a lounger you sit on and one you actually fall asleep on. Teak is naturally oily, so rain and frost do very little to it.

Left alone, a wooden sun lounger fades to a soft silver grey over a season or two. Give it a wash and a coat of sealer each spring and it keeps the honey colour instead. Both are normal, and neither affects how long it lasts.
